Interesting how the words "DEI Activist" are used in such a way that we're supposed to deaminize someone who's advocating for employment. Tell me, are lobbyists for the oil industry to be called "Petro activists"? Are lobbyists for the drug companies now "Narco activists"??

I definitely hear someone trying to provide "insider" information on some portion of the FAA hiring process. I'm not convinced it's about the air traffic control exam. I listened to the entire audio - I heard no mention of "test questions"... or testing; but a vague allusion to "answers" that sounded to me like someone who might have been talking about questions on the application for employment, not a test that you'd certainly take much later after training. He mentioned HR multiple times.

If this recording is in fact genuine, then at worst you have an overzealous individual who should be reprimanded or fired. BTW,

COL (Join to see) i think you're spot on and articulated better than I could attempt -- the "DEI Activist" is just an adjective here. What gets me is that someone held this in their hip pocket for more than 10 years -- AS someone who went to school where the student body 'did not lie, steal or cheat nor tolerate those who do' cheating at any time is wrong not just when it fits a narrative.

Yes - I agree with you on that. Again, if this isn't faked - it's a very troubling phone call that sounds like gaming the system. What I don't like is the leap to the notion that actual ATC test answers were going to be revealed - without knowing that's what he really did. There's no proof in this tape, but it's very suspicious.

As a retired ATC after 29 years at 2 different centers, ZAB, ZHU & ZAB again and as an instructor for most of that, I wouldn't doubt this could happen on the hiring exam. So some people might get through the first screening, BUT and this is a BIG BUT;
There are ZERO "DEI" Air Traffic Controllers!

After getting hired, everyone passes the same test, goes through the same problems and meets the same requirement. I will speak about Centers, drawing the Maps of air way, Jet ways, approach plates, etc, you pass or youre gone, no retakes. At Albuquerque Center, our Jet Airways map had about 1000 items on it. With simulate problems, you separate air planes the same as everyone else had to do, you fail the exam, you get one retake, you fail that your gone. Then working live traffic, your instructors job is also on the line, never saw a controller let someone pass that couldn't do the job. If while working with a student and the student screws up, the "deal" as we called it goes on the instructor. Because of that, if a student isn't doing the job, you wash them out. That student learns or they are gone, there is no do over, you cant hit a pause button. If the instructor thinks a student is ready, they then sit with another instructor working live traffic and prove to them they are ready, then they have to prove it to supervisor.

So since I got 5 extra points because of being a vet, was I a DEI hire? I scored 93 on my entrance exam, so my total score was 98. When I was hired, the cut off for getting a job offer was 85 or better, I dont know what it is now. The wash out rate when I went through training was around 65-70%. When I left, during Obama, it was still about that high.
