Good evening, Rallypoint, and welcome to this Ides of March edition (March 15th) of Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD).
The term 'triptych' is associated with works of art that are hinged together and can be folded shut or displayed open. Today's APOD is not hinged together, but the three exposures from last night's lunar eclipse are from the Cerro Tololo Observatory in Chilé. For once the weather was relatively clear in the Carolina Piedmont. That's pretty close to what I saw too.
