This isn't forgotten history, it's the same, shopworn bullet points Republicans would bring up every time it was pointed out that they were actually pushing back against equal opportunity, equal employment opportunity, access, women's reproductive rights, etc.
And every time they bring it up, it unintentionally works against them, because it sounds like "hey, we used to not be against equality 60-150 years ago, see?"
And the inevitable reply would be, "yeah, so why can't you just not be against equality now?"
