Elon Musk Says ‘Fake People Born in the Future’ Are Claiming Unemployment

Elon Musk said that “fake people born in the future” were filing fraudulent unemployment benefits, after the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) shared the results of a recent survey of unemployment insurance claims.
Since 2020, 24,500 individuals over the age of 115 have claimed a total of $59 million in unemployment benefits, while 28,000 claimants between the ages of 1 and 5 have received $254 million in benefits, according to DOGE.
An additional 9,700 people with birth dates more than 15 years in the future were paid $69 million in benefits. In one case, an individual with a birthdate of 2154 claimed $41,000 in unemployment benefits, DOGE stated on social media platform X.
Musk wrote that American taxpayers’ dollars were “going to pay fraudulent unemployment claims for fake people born in the future.”

Here's my shocked face. The fact that we can't verify things in this day and age is appalling.

The problem here is that a GS-nothing with three brain cells could have stopped most of what DOGE is uncovering. But the government is overflowing with mouth breathing drones who GO TO (at least until COVID) work, but don't actually WORK. And the ones who do have to put in a few minutes a day "processing" claims have no incentive to actually examine them before rubber stamping them. It goes like this: if I do my due diligence, I can process 5 per hour. So as long as I approve 40 per day, it looks like I'm working. Approved, approved, approved, now I can watch youtube videos for the next 40 minutes.

LTC Matthew Schlosser The problem with that gross over-simplifcation is that your math assumes DOL even has over 1200 people processing unemployment benefits and nothing else, (maybe they do...) and it discounts every case that is denied, it's a fairly big number because many state agencies encourage ineligibles to apply and get denied to document them.
And mostly, it just sounds too much like the since disproven claim that 130 yr olds were collecting social security benefits.
