TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — When a 20-year-old opened fire at Florida State University, terrified students barricaded doors and fled across campus, abandoning chemistry notes and even shoes, in a shooting that investigators said killed two men and wounded at least six others.
The shooter, identified by police as Phoenix Ikner, is believed to be a Florida State student and the son of a sheriff’s deputy who opened fire with his mother’s former service weapon, investigators said. Authorities have not yet revealed a motive for the shooting, which began around lunchtime Thursday just outside the student union.

Absolutely, the mother could have kept firearms not on her person, locked up.
The Killer likely showed signs of needed mental health care and it was not provided
The campus could have put as many resources into security as it did into hiring liberal, skittle-haired professors of indoctrination.
Lawabiding adults on campus could have realized saftey is a personal responsibility first and foremost, been trained, armed and mentially ready to use the amount for force nessecery to stop the threat.

guns dont kill last i check they are an inanimate object and cannot - on their own - pull the trigger! so why are guns being blamed? more people are killed every year from bats, knives, and fists

AN Ron Wright - Ron, you have never seen me speak against legal ownership of firearms. However, I have preached for the past 40 years the absolute necessity of gun owner responsibility. In this case, that Deputy should not have allowed her service weapon to be accessed by her stepson.
