Exploring Biodigital Convergence

Nightmare scenario, imo. Notice how the benign focus for good is on medical use for people. The issue of "robots with biological brains" is an entirely different story, as is the comment that all of it already exists.
Strange how there has been no public discussion, particularly about ethics, oversight, and the need for regulation (with the will to enforce as necessary). The article is from Canada, however not ONLY about what is going on in Canada. At least Canada is being transparent about the issue of those who intend for it to lead to transhumanism, though it is soft pedalled and not mentioned as such.
Big red flag: "Biodigital convergence is [. . .] moving away from the centralized models of pharmaceutical and industrial biotech toward widespread commercial and consumer use." However at issue is the avoidance of abuse which of course occurs with commercial and consumer use. Even worse is the "blessing" to the commercial industry that already exists - of government funding the commercial (i.e. for profit) research like the mentioned "synthetic biology machines that can be programmed to create entirely new organisms"
