But, but, it's just 'whataboutism'. At least that's what they always say. That's so 20 years ago...

I love telling Democrats ,or people who disagree with me, and I say whataboutisms are allowed.

LTC Stephen Conway They absolutely are. A certain individual called it whining. Of course, he says he's middle ground but only comments on posts that are conservative in nature and is always the antithesis. He only posts on progressive posts if conservatives do.

LTC Trent Klug - If you'll recall, I called it whining when you were whining about the personal inconvenience of having to wear a mask during COVID.
In regards to my comments on "conservative" posts, what I post is not the antithesis to real conservatism, but rather just the facts and reality that some "conservative" posts are ignoring.

Let's put that Schumer-Graham amendment into perspective:
"That bill allows for a 180 day negotiation period between the U.S. and China to revalue its currency, if the negotiations are not successful, a temporary across the board tariff of 27.5% will be applied to all Chinese products... Furthermore, if the President determines that at the end of the negotiation period that China has developed and started actual implementation of a plan to revalue its currency, he may delay imposition of the tariff for another 12 months."
And this was just about China, not every county on earth.
And it was for 27.5%, not 145%.
There is a reason why the carrot and stick approach is in that particular order.
There is a reason why Teddy Roosevelt's quote of speak softly and carry a big stick is in that particular order.
Successful negotiations are always more effective than creating additional damage you also have to fix along with getting to that original outcome.
That additional damage is
-retaliatory tariffs placed on the US
-all of us paying higher prices every day
-some of us going out of business
-rising inflation and unemployment
-probably a recession
The reason you have seen so much push back on tariffs, even from Republicans in Congress, aside from the above problems, is that no attempt was made to make a deal, no carrot. Just the big stick of austerity that hits us harder than the target countries.

LTC Stephen Conway - China is meeting us next week.
They don't sound anything like they're ready to meet halfway.
And the meeting could have been the first step, rather than tanking our markets, consumer confidence, and GDP with weeks of random tariff talk followed by global tariffs.
