Let me be judgmental. Juneteenth is a stupid Federal Holiday/ The day the Abolition of Slavery in Texas? Actually, the Non-Union occupied part of Texas. Why not a meaningful National Holiday on Dec. 6th, the day that the 13th Amendment was ratified by the States and DID abolish Slavery in the United States. Too close to Christmas? This one was picked because there wasn't a Federal Holiday in June.

SrA John Monette - I agree. Do away with that one too. And let's give Abe back his day while we are at it.

You are correct about 12/6/1865 Captain, but you've missed the meaning of Juneteenth...

COL (Join to see) - No, i''m not. No one outside of Galveston ever heard of this before they made it a holiday. 12/6/1865 is of national importance, Juneteenth is in the same category as Kwanza.
