Smile! National Camera Day is June 29, a day to celebrate the fact that photography, once so complicated it took a scientist to understand, is now part of our everyday lives. The word “photography” is based on two Greek words that, when put together, mean “writing with light.’” It’s a beautiful way of describing what a camera lets us do — tell a story without the use of words.

I took this photo over a decade ago during calving season in Maxwell Kansas, I was on foot really enjoying being out in nature. Until I realize I was almost surround by several older bulls. It was then I ascertained I can get through a car window faster than opening the door.
I am a forensic photographer and my photos have put away several predators. You’d recognize the names.

Photography was a favorite hobby of my grandfather's. In fact, if it wasn't for my grandfather's photos that he put together in an album I'd never have known what many of my past relatives looked like, including my grandfather in his younger years.

In some respects I miss my old camera, the lenses, etc. But when your phones camera shoots clearer and is usually in ones pocket, the old camera just sits in a camera bag in the corner.
