Book was great, but movie was garbage. Robert Heinlein's widow allegedly walked out during a set visit due to her anger at the extreme disconnect with original story.

So much of the book was left out of the movie, and so much was added which was not even thought of in the book.
Movie added in shower scene and a time in bed between two of the actors.
Movie made do with standard issue guns of the day (AR-15), didn't even try to come in with weapons talked about in the book.
Now I know why, the director couldn't be bothered to read (like most people today).
