Been a life member since my Iraq deployment, but have not been very active in VFW.

all vets should be in a vet organization of some sort. AL VFW DAV or VVA all work in vet. issues plus when active in an organization you are around people who understand the talk. It doesn't make any difference in the time period. When I got involved in the mid 70's there were still a few WW1 people around and lots of WW2 and Korea. The history lesson started after the meeting with a few beers thrown down. I heard stories that were never told to the wife or family.
