Its funny how MSM editing works. Dems are always made to look smarter than they actually are, and republicans are made to look dumb or callous.

The court didn't "decide" on the settlement. It accepted and ruled on the settlement decision.
Settlements are a negotiation between parties outside of court. The final agreed upon settlement is typically completed days or weeks before it gets in front of a judge for a "decision".
CBS knew for months they would have to pay a settlement, and probably knew for weeks what the final amount was before the court "decision".
So, whether it was a "bribe" or not has yet to be proved or disproved, but the original suit was for $20B, and the final settlement was for $16M, and there is an argument to be made that in the final stages of settlement negotiation, Colbert might have been a piece of that.
Personally, I think the suit was frivolous, and kind of an attack on the 1st Amendment, because what 60 Minutes did in editing that interview was no different at all than what 60 Minutes or any long format interview on any network has done for Trump and every other interviewee, every time.

MSG Billy Brumfield
His show loses $40-50 million a year.
That part of the video was not edited for time.

SGM Jeff Mccloud
MSG Billy Brumfield - They are all edited for both time (most of these interviews run 2-3 hrs) and for clarity.
If you really feel you need it, I can provide edited and unedited videos of the first few one on ones in the Oval Office, that show even those interviews were severely edited for clarity (cutting out all the rambling and and tangents), by Fox, ABC and a couple others.
As far as "losing money", maybe. But for the last few months, we haven't seen the books, or any real evidence.
All we have is one anonymous source providing a hearsay quote to the NY Post.
“This thing is losing money left and right,” said one person close to Skydance. “I hear it’s on the way to lose more than $50 million".
Maybe someone will get sick of the debate and leak the books to show this to be true, or false.
