I guess no one wanted to preserve the history of Route 66
It’s all gone and I missed it

Like everything else, time steamrolled it flat.
You'll see Amarillo, Gallup, New Mexico
Flagstaff, Arizona, now don't forget Winona
Kingman, Barstow, San Bernardino

It also runs through Tulsa and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and is marked and even celebrated

Not to mention Winslow Arizona, where you can still stand on a corner and look for a flatbed Ford :-))

Cpl Timothy Sissons Ya, I know the Oklahoma City part, we stayed there on our 1st anniversary. Unfortunately that was on a Sunday and the county was dry then. But we did have a trunk full of California wine :-))

I started traveling between Oklahoma City and Albuquerque in late 1980 before 1-4 was completed, and it was obvious the parts of US 66 that hadn't been erased. There is also a part of US 66 going through Albuquerque, and when I left in 1993 it was still obvious what road you were on.
