F-35 Pilot Was on Phone for Nearly an Hour with Engineers Before Ejection and Fiery Crash

This brought back some memories of when we lost all 8 engines over the Pacific when ferrying a B-52 back to the states from Thailand during the Vietnam War. Turned out we had fuel contaminated with water. That wasn't a problem when flying at the altitudes for normal combat sorties, but when we had our last aerial refueling and climbed above 45,000' for the leg back home the water froze in fuel lines and one by one flamed the engines out. Didn't have phone contact but sure spent a lot of time on HF radio talking with maintenance. I suppose not having all those modern sensors like the F-35 also helped. Fortunately a B-52 without power glides rather well and once we got around 19,000' the frozen fuel lines thawed enough to get one, and eventually all engines restarted. Of course we didn't know what caused this until several weeks later when the incident report came out.
