Senators forge ahead with swanky fundraisers despite shutdown

As of Friday, October 3, 2025, 1858h, members of Congress aren’t letting the government shutdown get in the way of schmoozing with donors at an oceanside resort and in wine country, despite the unflattering optics.

It would seem the priority is with their organization and not "we the people". It's difficult to believe that this is even a consideration, given the shutdown.
