Not even show up for work? There is a clean CR passed by the House on the table. Democrats are not voting for it. Now we return to our regular programming.

CW3 Richard Doty - All this does is affect money to the Affordable Care Act (ACA), money to insurance companies, and plays a role in cost of insurance. None of this affects the cost of healthcare provided nor does it actually provide healthcare to anyone. What people fail to understand is the ACA is health insurance, not actual healthcare received. The cost of ACA and cost of healthcare are unrelated but to help make the health insurance companies richer, they want you to believe they are the same. The ACA does little more than make the insurance companies richer and helps people obtain some healthcare however depending on the plan, they still have to pay deductibles and care can be refused payment by the insurance companies.

They are not same, but they ARE related. But I agree - health insurers are taking advantage here. Which is why we should have a universal, single-payer system with strong audit controls, and that eliminates outrageous CEO/executive salaries or even dividends to investors. We, the American people, should be the investors and the investment. Government programs, when properly overseen, have far less waste, far less fraud, and far less net average cost.

I had done a back of the napkin run of the numbers myself. This does not seem like an honest donation, but rather something purely political. I have to wonder where that money will actually go.

From what I can tell, no regular American could make a donation directly to DoD > military payroll, but - reports are DoD have accepted it, so - I guess anything is possible when you are an uber-rich reclusive republican billionaire banker. If you or I were to make a donation, it would just go the Treasury and into the general fund. And of course, people with this kind of wealth and influence are not supposed to be able to do this either - because of the potential for influence peddling. But the President is a felon, so I guess all bets are off. Even having accepted a donation and having the cash is not the same thing as having the authority to actually disperse it - that is what legislation in the form of Authorization and Appropriation bills, do.

COL (Join to see) I imagine the DOD took the donation to the US Treasury. Donations are accepted through them and you can earmark where you want the donation to go. Whether the government honors that is another story.

LTC Trent Klug - I made a 2d post with the ins & outs of how donations to the United States government are actually supposed to work.

Yeah, he should shove that measly $130 million dollars up his butt. What a pathetic excuse for a human being. Clearly the man hates America.
