My Dad was a Merchant Marine and he acted most like the Marine.

SPC James Neidig I gained a whole new respect for Elvis after I enlisted. He didn't run to Canada when he got his draft notice.

Elvis Was A Good Old Southern Boy ! He Loved This Country And Everything It Stands For.
When I Was At NAS Millington, Which Is Just Outside Of Memphis, My Mother Came To Visit And I Took Her To Graceland
As She Was A Huge Elvis Fan And Had Knew Him In Germany , She Always Said That Trip To Graceland Was One Of The Best Things Of Her Life.

SPC James Neidig That's terrific. The closest I got to a celebrity was a fellow who worked the agency that represented Bobby Vinton. Bunked on the same floor in Basic. He was in the National Guard and acted like he was beyond put out with the whole thing. Glad when I moved on to AIT.

My Father Stayed In Contact With Him For Many Years,Through Letters.
I Did Get To Meet Him Sometime In The 70s I Don’t Remember What Year, He Did A Concert And Contacted My Father And Told Him To Meet Him At A Hotel In Baltimore And We Went As A Family There And Spent About An Hour In His Room With Him.
