The accuracy of those figures appears questionable, though I acknowledge this may stem from my own bias and affection for my country. Out of curiosity, I conducted research to determine how closely the claim—that 6,000 U.S. residents filed for asylum in the United Kingdom—aligns with available data. I attempted to locate information specifically addressing the number of U.S. citizens applying for asylum in the UK in 2025, including by reviewing detailed asylum data tables that provide nationality-level breakdowns. Based on the UK asylum statistics I was able to access for 2025, I did not find any data indicating that United States citizens submitted asylum applications in the UK.
The UK Home Office publishes detailed asylum statistics broken down by nationality, and the top nationalities claiming asylum in 2025 include Pakistani, Afghan, Syrian, Eritrean, Iranian, and Sudanese nationals. However, US citizens do not appear among the nationalities listed in any of the publicly available reports or data tables.
This suggests that either:
1. The number of "US citizens" applying for asylum in the UK in 2025 is extremely small (possibly zero or in single digits)
2. US citizen applications are grouped into an "other nationalities" category that isn't broken down in public reports
3. The people applying for asylum from the US were not citizens or perhaps illegals trying to find a different solution to returning to their country of origin.
It would be highly unusual for US citizens to seek asylum in the UK, as the US is generally considered a safe democratic country, and asylum is typically granted to those fleeing persecution. If you need exact figures, you might need to submit a Freedom of Information request directly to the UK Home Office, as they may have this data even if it's not published in their regular statistical releases.

No, there is no need to "make it up" specifically:
It was 6000 applications for UK citizenship or UK residency
The number of applications were over a 12 month span from March 2024 to March 2025.
I suppose the real irony lost on the OP is that the King of England has no real political power; cannot levy a tax, cannot introduce legislation or sway/coerce/threaten parliament, cannot veto a law, cannot start a war or even instigate a single military strike.

Yes, the King is a figurehead, still paid for by the taxpaying commoners. And quite frankly, the royal family is worshipped, even in the US for some unknown reason.

MSG Billy Brumfield yup, they do. Maintains several palaces, staff, official travel, security, all adds up to 0.03% of their federal budget.
Of course, it’s also a main draw of their tourism industry.
