We are hopefully on the verge of getting rid of the Maduro reign, which started with Chavez so many years ago through our own endorsement of their poor election standards. Venezuela was once the most prosperous nation in the region, they allowed socialism to take hold, and ultimately made it one of the poorest. I am hopeful that Maria Machado takes control and restores what she can for Venezuela. I have many former Venezuelan neighbors from my years in the Ft Lauderdale area that would diligently return home to attempt to vote out the socialist regime (at the time Chavez). Many criticized them for being affluent enough to get to the US, and subsequently a working visa or actual US citizenship here. But what these critics don't understand, is that in addition to voting, they were also sending money back home to their family members who could not make it to the US. Had they too remained in Venezuela, they and their families would have all suffered far more. Each came to the US legally, established productive lives, contributed to the economy, and blended into the American culture vs creating a micro-version of Venezuela in the US.
