We didn't move to Texas to shop at HEB but we sure are happy we discovered it when we got here. Their store branded products are better than national brands, and their prices are reasonable. We also shop at Costco for those things that we can use in bulk purchases (long shelf life). Had a long battle with Costco about the sizing of their eggs. There are very specific guidelines and they consistently failed. HEB seems to consistently over achieve in this area. Their fresh seafood is always excellent too

Lt Col Charlie Brown Too far for me to travel. The nearest Costco is in Knoxville, about 85 miles away!

The Best Way I Have Found To Save Money On Food, Is Farmers Markets, Especially For Veggies, Fruits And If They Have It Meats.
I Am Lucky I Live In Amish Country And Farmers Markets Are Everywhere All Year Long.
I Will Be Going On Saturday To One Of The Local Markets For Delmonico Steaks At $17.00 A Pound , They Are Organic Grass Fed Beef From Local Amish Farmers.
There Is Also A Vegetable Stand With Local Grown Organic Vegetables.

Where you live, that's a real possibility. Sometimes here in late spring/summer/fall, we will get out of town and stop at local farmstands for produce. Otherwise, Lidl here carries local produce and private label products
