I am genuinely interested, I just couldn't quite !make out the acronym FIL, I didn't know quite what that rmeamt...my wife:s dad, as I'd mentioned on the app before, had gotten a Bronze, we're not sure if with 'V", hough I'd be eager to check when I have time...he led a minefield charge at the Moselle River during the Battle of Nancy, while the 90h Div was under Gen Patton...was he a relative? Friend? Also, could you elaborate as to what FIL !sans? I realize I'm missing something, perhaps something that should ne obvious, I just didn't know what it meant, I figured I'd ask, many thanks....

He was also apparently given a battlefield promotion from O-1 to O-2...one of my uncles, my dad's sister's husband, was one of Gen Eisenhower's radio operators in the 3118th Signal Svc Battalion/Group, he was at the German surrender at the little red schoolhouse in Reims, Germany, he helped send the Telex of the surrender, he swiped a flimsy copy, his sons, my cousins, still have it, in a safe deposit box, my uncle and aunt used to display it at a library near them every Memo Day, 4th of July, and Veterans Day, Gen Eisenhower momentarily remembered my uncle when the Gen gave him his diploma as a GI Bill grad fro Columbia Univ when the Gen was president there before running for office, everyone was quite startled my uncle mentioned it to the Gen, my uncle was known for being his unit comedian, his common trailer was next to the Ben's trailer at Southwick House for HQ SHAEF before D-Day, my uncle was with the unit alp the way to when it was at the IG Farben corporate HQ taken over after the surrender....
