wow, 55 I don't think I will be able to move at 55 lol. I'm only 34 and my body is falling apart. I'm not sure how there basic training is now a days but the Navy's seems to be more mental now than physical so I'm sure it would still be challenging but attainable.

After 11 years in the Army and Army Reserve I joined the Marine Corps and had to go through Boot Camp. I was the oldest in the Battalion, I turned 30 while there. I still ran circles around the rest of them because I had something to prove. They were told to make me quit and they couldn't. I also had 30% disability from the VA my knees and lower back. Marine Corps didn't want me to make it but I did.

With what I see on his chest, I am not surprised at all that he could get through Basic. This is one tough Sailor!

Per the article: “But Taffe, now a Sergeant First Class (E-7) due to prior active-duty service in the Navy...” Navy Chief = Army SFC. He’s a soldier.

Then again, with all that Navy experience, and bad habits certainly are hard to break, he could only muster up and qualify as ‘Marksman’. I guess once a sailor, always a sailor.

I can only hope at 55 I'm still in shape enough where I could do basic. Kudos!

SFC W,
I thought the same thing I'm only 33 and already feel myself slowing down.

Imagine this guy out running and out doing all of them in everything. Heck he may be tougher than what many would think. I sure would liked to have him in my training cycle to motivate others to not do the bare minimum or refuse to train.

I could easily see him outdoing all the new PVTs. Prior service Nave with a Master Blaster? Navy EOD are tough as nails and crazy as hell.
