Good on him. I went through BCT at Fort Benning, GA in 2007 at the age of 35. I turned 36 during Week 5 of BCT (I didn't tell anyone). There was one guy older than me, who was 38. He blew out his knee so I became the oldest one in the platoon. All the young kids thought they were "all that" until the APFT scores were posted; then then bravado stopped.
I think I could re-do BCT now at age 50, but I don't think I would want to. All of the "mind games" didn't really affect me then, and they wouldn't now. In fact, now they would just seem silly.

I was 32 when I went to Ft. Leonardwood, and we had a 35 year old in 1st platoon as well.

Lots more like him out there. They'd all answer the call if able and really needed. Hard man.
