I remember the AF Academy Superintendent's response to the heinous graffiti ... a damn good one ... posted here on RP at the time. His message was a strong one ... and still valid. It is too bad that it is tarnished just a bit by the race of the person responsible. Goes to show that racism comes in different colors and varieties. Glad the cadet-candidate showed himself in prep school rather than after getting admitted to the Academy.

I told my wife when this first surfaced that it was a scam. The checks on personnel to be admitted to any military academy would possibly have revealed that the applicant was deficient or suffering recto-cranial inversion. I remarked to her that the standards were high and that this was probably done by the person reporting it. Before you get on my case I was an investigator and have a degree in PSY. I am sad that I was proven correct and this young man has unresolved issues that caused the behavior that will probably follow him for the rest of his life.

my question is why? Why did he want the extra attention? Was he failing course study and tried to use this as an excuse?

From the article: "The cadet candidate accused of crafting the messages was not identified, but the Colorado Springs Gazette reported that the individual is no longer enrolled at the school. Sources also told the Gazette the cadet candidate 'committed the act in a bizarre bid to get out of trouble he faced at the school for other misconduct,' the newspaper reported."
I doubt we will hear much more than that.
