A Prosecutor Sets Penalties and Fills Coffers

Sheriff Roundtree of Richmond County, GA was elected to office as the people wanted change. I read his responses to letters every week. He has an interesting thought process. While leading community partnership marches and the like, he also answers questions in tones hard on the criminals while trying to bring the community together with law enforcement.
One letter had a woman asking why her sister couldn't receive better medical care while in the local jail. Sheriff Roundtree's first sentence was a question back at her: "Why is your sister in my jail to begin with?"

I got it, this guy in Dothan is an a$$hole profiteering and taking advantage of his position to raise dollars. I can say that many of the examples throughout this article could have been avoided, just by abiding by the law. The question of jury selection is not just about the lawyers, but the judge watching the proceedings and the legal process dictated by the law. If you want that changed, the law has to change first. There was no mention if the judges in that jurisdiction are potentially racist or corrupt.

There are many sides to every story and I believe that due to perceived notions, that guy needs to go away and no longer have a position in that jurisdiction, even if he didn't run for re-election. That place needs new blood in order to heal.
