A protest in Trump Country brings home nation's race divides

Interesting read. I like how it showed more than one side. The quote from the school principal was exceptionally poignant, “When we start down the road of ‘the other’ — the other is wrong, the other is un-American, the other, the other, the other — where will we stop?” he wonders. “There will be a day when we look back on this and think: What in the world happened to us?”

Divides are never going to be resolved by pointing back at the divide and saying "Look! Over there! See that divide!?" They are going to be resolved by finding those things that unite and make us all Americans. For many years, that was the Star Spangled Banner. The Anthem united us...with a hand over our heart, a hat removed, or a salute rendered. Where did those days go? Here's the last stanza of the Anthem that many forget:

"O thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved homes and the war's desolation.
Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the Heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: 'In God is our trust.'
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!"

My two cents? We lost our path. We let differences divide us instead of unite us. Reminding ourselves of grievances of the past, daily, we choose to not move forward.

Nothing like a little race baiting in the morning, between the Trump hate articles. Unless you don’t live in these small communities, you don’t know what you are talking about.
