Didn't we kind of beat this one to death a year and a half ago?

1SG (Join to see) - Considering that Mr. Farrow may be running for political office in the near future, it is probably more than self-aggrandizement. Plus, even if he does not run in the near future, it places him in the wings to work within a future Democrat administration.

SSG Robert Webster - That would be the definition of self-aggrandizement, my friend.
Whatever his ambitions are, they are far from altruistic.

1SG (Join to see) - Not really, since this is a very quit movement. Compare to AOC and her cohorts, now that is self-aggrandizement and promotion.
"...an act undertaken to increase your own power and influence or to draw attention to your own importance." You left out one of the most important aspects - the attention. You say his name and a large percentage of people will not even know who you are talking about. And he was supposedly a major contributor of information and he was barely a blip on the radar, if he even showed up at all? If Epstein or Weinstein were mentioned would this name come to mind? And when he was mentioned by the Ricky Gervais at the Golden Globes, 99.5% of the normal American audience said "Who?" And 99.9% of those that did not have an urge to watch it, have no idea who he might be.
And self-aggrandizement usually has a fair amount of braggadocio, and where is it?

SSG Robert Webster - He made the media rounds after Weinstien, and got a Pulitzer if I am not mistaken.
I see where you are going with this, but dude gored a lot of oxen in powerful circles. That would greatly hinder any political aspirations he might have. Guys like this tend to fancy themselves as the "man behind the curtain" type.
Completely unrelated except for your mention - that Ricky Gervais monologue was money.

A current favorite ploy of certain opposition groups: Play the sexual misconduct, sexual harassment, rape, “he ( she) touched me 20 years ago” card. What is really an important issue has been too often misrepresented so as to be taken seriously by Americans now.
