It reminds me of when some churches sang hymns in rock or folk music styles. Many embraced it. Others, unfortunately, could not deal.

I have posted before about sitting outside a Baptist church on Sunday evenings, catering to the black community and next door to a Dairy Queen where I purchased a root beer float. I would enjoy the sounds of the hymns being sung with great joy as I sipped my drink. I longed to join them inasmuch as my church stuck with the ponderous hymns of the Lutheran Church, but my father would have skinned me alive for associating with blacks.
