A big machine gun would also be too heavy for lone shooters.

LOL - love it.

As a Range Master for Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts - I teach children how to shoot safely. I once had a "friend" on facebook "unfriend" me because she thought that teaching children about guns was horrible and decided I was a terrible person for it.

Good for you, Davida. My personal opinion is that if kids are taught about guns and gun safety, it takes the mystery out of it and provides a sound respect for them. If you don't teach them and there are firearms around, kids get curious and mistakes are made. My grandfather was a hunting guide and grew up needing to hunt for food. He shot his first Moose at 15, up in Canada. He put a .22 rifle in my hands when I was 12, teaching me to shoot straight and chastising me if I missed the target. "Don't waste the ammo" He was very strict on gun safety too. and he laughed a little bit when a 10 gauge set me on my butt.

A long time ago, I was Range Safety Officer at Kenosha County Conservation club. It was good to see kids out there learning. Then they just need to apply that in the woods, no stealing someone else's Deer. One kid tried that with my uncle ONCE. kid never took a shot. Almost needed a proctologist.
