A student was punished for filming professor’s anti-Trump rant. Then came the backlash.

My take on this is that for a professor to rant in this manner in front of a class is an abuse of power. Much like it would be an abuse of power for military to go in front of a class in uniform and support a political candidate. Not all school policies are right, fair, or prudent. I can understand the students concerns about their grade related to a professor who would abuse their position in such a manner as to force students to listen to a rant of their political views. In general I agree with following a schools policies, but in the bigger picture, who polices the police (In this case the school) when they abuse their power?

Proof that you don't have to be smart to be a professor, you just need to avoid leaving school for your entire life. If you manage to avoid the real world long enough, then they let you teach.
