Well! There you go! Sounds like this "academy grad" is just trying too hard. Perhaps the SGT MAJ (aka whoever the Senior Enlisted) of that unit and the CO should have a beer with him and share. I get very concerned when I read...:
"...The COVID-19 outbreak has been a mixed blessing for Jackson’s team. Said Dietrich, 'He’s definitely cranking out new phrases because of our switch to teleconferences instead of in-person meetings. It’s fun for us to watch.'...Several of Jackson’s subordinates were equally mystified and expressed frustration that his grammatical gymnastics, while basically understandable, sometimes cause squadron members to waste time deriving the origins of the phrases he uses."
It seems this JO needs some "seasalt"!
Frankly, this scares the hell out me. The trust of his team is obviously waning when I read comments like "...It’s fun for us to watch...." There is nothing funny about an officer, especially a JO, making such faux pas. In times of real crisis how will he respond when the lives of his troops are truly on the line, will these kinds of faux pas get them killed because this officer cannot master them in what I guess is a garrison situation?
Just an old Navy Chief, saying..............even though this is from dufflebag!
