There should be Labor camps set up to assist road crews on or around US Military bases manned by deserters who at least serve out their remaining time cleaning roadsides or whatever is needed by the local military command. I would call it the swing blade brigade or maybe bush axe battalion.

Yep, it seems pointless to just lock someone up, this way they get a little redemption from the hard work. My father used this method of training on me as a kid, I became one with a swing blade and had plenty of time to contemplate my future

A Company Commander who deserted? Is this true? How was she vetted for Command? Usually Command is reserved for the best of the best. Was this her first brush with trouble? There is something very bizarre about this story.

It’s one thing to make a stupid decision. This is much more than that and required a series of decisions.
