The reality of being deployed downrange is that you will come back changed, no matter the circumstances. I used to complain about the Texas heat, and after I came back my wife noticed that I commented that it was a little warm outside, but not hot. After being in a place where sweat goes down your gluteal cleft in the shade, it changes your thinking and perspective. A second point would be if you came back with all of your limbs and fingers and toes intact. When I went back to visit my nursing school, one instructor evaluated me on just that. It is the little things that make the rest of your life seem so much better.

Thanks for the article. Based on my research with repetitive behaviors and their affects on post trauma, this will delay, but not replace the driving force behind PTSD, Suicide Ideation and other repetitive behaviors. I DO wish them well - ALL of them...
