What? So some folks think that a normal person goes out and kills a bunch of people? That defies logic.

Yes, Sir, I agree that this is a mental health issue. If steps had been taken the 59% of mental patients would not have been allowed to buy a firearm. How many lives would that have saved? Not a gun problem in my opinion.

No actually it's not a gun problem. It's clearly a lack of security. The police were warned. The school was warned, the FBI was warned. He posted Facebook warnings about wanting to set a record on killing students at a school. How many warnings does it take to react? The sheriff department waiting outside while the shooting continues. This guy was and is mentally ill but he knew what he was doing. I agree that the bump stock needs to go.I agree that the age to buy should be raised to twenty one.But that doesn't mean it's a gun issue.Mentally ill people should not be allowed to buy or own a gun.I see what you're saying but giving a job to a Vet or Retired Police Officer seems like a really good idea.

LTC (Join to see) - I agree it CAN become a gun problem. Many steps in the LE and medically areas got skipped in this case. So, unfortunately it did become a gun problem. I don't think it HAS to though. Lots of chances for someone to intervene in too many cases but nobody does. Lets get some of these folks some help and see how that plays out before we take guns away from law abiding citizens is all I'm asking.

TSgt David L. - I agree but I don't think this school is an outlier. I think this school is an indication that school security has been used as a metric to obtain more Federal dollars.

LTC (Join to see) - That, and I don't know how it's possible to actually use a school as a pawn in a budget battle, I do agree with you on. I've read it, the LE response, or lack of, and I can't wrap my head around it. Is it possible to engineer a disaster like this? A bunch of sick, twisted folks that value a budget line item over student AND staff lives.
