Sarbrena all my time there I never worked Kabul, had a few meetings, had some guys there. I never like Kabul. I hope they hunt them all down and do bad things to them.

Good post, Capt Sabrena Goldman. I hope they disposed of explosives in place. That way the entire neighborhood gets the message at the same time. Not exactly hearts and minds kinda stuff, but sometimes that's what it takes.

David ref the hearts and minds, sometimes you have to bloody a few noses break a few ribs before they understand. Much evaluation and intel analysis goes into making the decision who, if any gets negative or positive attention.

LTC Jeff Shearer - Trust me, Sir, I get it. Depending on who they hit last (US Forces) and how pissed we are about it, EOD input (normally gets followed since I'm not killing myself or a team mate for a mud hut!) says BIP! Blow in Place. I leave the hearts and minds to the higher ups. :-) LOL

David I remember one of my trips over one of my units ODAs had a conventional unit had an IED strike. Killed one of their guys. Our ODA went and met them and ask what they could do or help with. The CDR said he needed to win their hearts and minds, maybe a medical readiness in the suspected village. The team leader had to call me via SATPHONE later to get my opinion on what he said. He told the CDR, "sir you are fucking nuts, there is a time and place. Someone in that village just killed one of your boys, first kick their teeth in. There is much more to it but that was the gist and I could not have agreed more.

LTC Jeff Shearer - Wow! Tough call. SATPHONE for a B-52 would have been my recommendation. If they lost folks in that village the cause was already lost. The ODA we worked with in Iraq was happy to have us blow crap up. We didn't have to do it in a village. Damnit! LOL
