This is a few days old and it’s embarrassing if any bit of it is accurate portrayal of more than a decade of reporting.

I have a 300+ page journal from 2007, that echos the findings in these so called "Secret Reports"; as well as reports we submitted to the "Center for Army Lessons Learned" in the same year. This was no secret.
People heard what they wanted to hear.

MAJ James Woods I kept a personal journal every night; as a means to decompress. 300+ pages, single spaced....
The items we submitted to CALL in 2004, was turned into doctrine. I was injured in 2007, and never saw if anything came of our submissions then; but, I still have some of their pamphlets kicking around the office for some great grandkid to find.
As far as not reading CALL.... you are correct; but when you read the story, the author of the article ran this down in 2016, because he heard that Flynn has spoken disparagingly about the efforts in Afghanistan.... so, this guys wasn't reading the SIGAR papers looking for truth.... he started out, Digging for dirt, and stumbled into this generations "Pentagon Papers" moment.
If the general population, listened for 2 seconds, to the veterans returning; or sitting in the waiting lines at the VA, they would have known.
Sadly, most just say, "Thank you for your service." Bit neither mean it, understand it, or care enough to learn, as long as it isn't their kid.
This is the simple truth of the nation we live in.
