Weapon cards and inventory Spot and full. Someone should have noticed the spot empty with no card and long book entry. I think it could be a paper work thing, a deployed unit may have it and not logged, or it was sent back to CRAN and or been removed from inventory and not copied over as out of inventory. In Iraq 2003 we had a troop Medevacked out and we made sure he has weapon and they flew him with it. He arrived back at a Marine BAT Aid station still in Iraq and down road from where are main body had stopped this was push into Baghdad, we did some Bridges up there for the final push. Anyway one of our Battalion Doc's and S-3 went over to see him his weapon was there and they left. He was then sent out to go down Kuwait and then Germany. Weapon was put in their Conex box. We as a Det placed his weapon off our reports as we are suppose to for weapons count, Battalion counted him as Medical and still had weapon. The problem came Battalion got FARGO and still had weapon on books and his. Long story short towered the end of deployment started doing inventory's and Gunners caught it, but know one added the BAS stop to the sheet. They did a JAG and I even had to make a statement that sucked, but shit happens weapon was on a slow boat back with Marines they had a locater chip on it.

CPO (Join to see) - One of my trips over I was in Kandahar and they had metal buildings including latrines. One morning as I am walking out of the latrine I notice a weapon leaning on the out side of the building. I go back in side with the weapon and ask if anyone was missing a weapon. Nobody claimed it, I went back out side and sat with it for a few minutes then decided to take it with me. Leave a note on the latrine door or something. As I was leaving some kid come running up looking kind of lost. He ran straight to me, I said give me something to let me know its yours. He did, I dont remember if he gave me a weapon number or serial number but he claimed it. I am kind of funny about knowing where your weapons are. I understand if you are wounded or God forbid KIA, got it, but any other time keep control of your weapon.
