Imagine how "tapped out" all branches of our military would be if a major war started (and we don't have the kind of economy that we had at the beginning of WWI, WWII, Korea, or Vietnam, to rebuild them)

That is weird news SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL. I would have expected the USMC to request assistance from the USAF or Air National Guard for aircraft to jump from.

SGM Barry Kindred - I recognize that TRANSCOM is engaged for strategic lift. I expect there would be air national guard assets which tend to be separate from TRANSOM. Decades ago I went with a special forces A tem to the US Virgin Islands during an ANG over-water flight. The ANG is required to maintain proficiency by flying missions regularly.
Many times as I have driven to Martinsburg, WV VAMC I have seen ANG aircraft lift flying large loops in the greater area from the Martinsburg, WV 167th Airlift Squadron [Mustangs].

LTC Stephen F. - the ANG is as deployable as the AF in today's military and OPTEMPO. Without them it would be even worse. They aren't part timers flying loops anymore.

SGM Barry Kindred - where I live they fly loops up and down the I-81 corridor. They need to be careful because they are located within the Washington, DC air corridor region. We have NORAD exercises in this are multiple times a year.
This local Airlift Squadron loop includes passing over the DHS Facility nearby. :-)
