A few thoughts:
I'm pro-Israel. Many who share my opinion fail to communicate what should be most appealing to Liberals, the inherent nature of equality in Israel. Israel thrives in a region where other countries at best founder. In part it's due to our aid. But it's also because: they have an effective form of representative government, they ensure opportunities for women, and they emphasize education and literacy. The average Israeli is actually quite secular, many are atheists. Practicing Jews are a minority. But the fact remains you're better off being a Muslim in Israel than a Jew in any Muslim nation. Furthermore, your far better off being a woman, an ethnic minority, a religious minority, an agnostic, or LGBTQ in Israel than you are in any Islamic nation.
As for the future of the Dems, it's no more tenuous than the GOP. These next two years the GOP is going to have to think long and hard about what makes them Republican. Is it Trump or is it historic Republican principles? The Dems are at risk of allowing radical liberalism weaken their party and the GOP's at risk of loosing whatever principled identity it has remaining to nativist populism.

Problem is, the right (As in the population, not the politicians) have decided what makes them a right winged individual, as in one of Pences rallies for Trump, you heard a woman try and talk about a revolution if Hillary Clinton was elected. Mainly due to everyone knew that if she was elected we could say goodbye to our rights as citizens and hello to privileges as subjects.
And just by looking at how wide spread the Trump Phenomenon has reached, and I'm willing to state this with 100% certainty, if Trump was to attempt to become a dictator and remove peoples rights like the people thought Hillary would have, it doesn't matter who's face is on the front of the revolution, there would be a revolution. And it would be alot more deadly than a bunch of Hippies/Communists carrying around bongs and dildos preaching for things that they have no basic knowledge of.

1SG(P) (Join to see) well said Israel is the closest nation to the US both in terms of values and as an alliance in the middle east region. They are also the homeland of one of our religious minorities.

The difference between Ellison and Perez is that Ellison is a foul ball that fell just outside the left field fence ... while Perez is a foul ball that fell just inside it. They are both far left ... and to have both of them heading up the DNC even if the less progressive of them is in the 1st chair, spells serious trouble for the Democrats ... IMV.
