At least two Army JROTC cadets lost their life in the recent Florida school shooting.
Apparently, there is a petition at Whitehouse.gov to provide a full honors funeral for one of the cadets because he helped others during the tragedy.
He sounds like he was a great cadet but, no. Military honors are for those who have served in the service. Official honors are not authorized and should not be given. He was a helpful, selfless JROTC cadet, but that qualifies him for nothing except deep appreciation along with the coach who saved lives.
*Volunteers* may want to do something for him.
When are we going to stop trying to water down every honor this country bestows?

Seriously? No. (Full disclosure - my daughter is also 15 and in JROTC. I wouldn’t support her getting FMH under similar circumstances because she’s not in the military.)
