There is also the politics that prevent some people from earning awards based on their assigned/attached units

Good point Sergeant Major and that happened a lot in Vietnam for political reasons to not publicize what was really happening in the beginning of that war..

You are right SGM I was talking to this QM MAJ never left the wire and he got a BS for being there end of tour award my uncle was in WWII with the 101st and he did some shit there and he never got a BS and we all know they did some big time fighting
