I recently saw a report from RT online stating that the CIA had paid the Washington Post $600 million. After a little research I found this article from "The Nation" back in 2013 verifying the payment. My questions are why would the CIA give a US newspaper a contract that is nearly three times what the paper was worth? Should the CIA be able to have this much leverage over the "Fourth Estate" (i.e. the news media)? and did the CIA use its leverage in the 2016 Election?

What on earth was the 600 mill used for? What exactly did they buy? Did they buy the rights to create fake news? That is about all I can think of. Anybody else have an idea?
