There are some in Ohio. It a loosely based paramilitary volunteer group. They meet in a fashion similar to the reserves, but there are no deployments or orders from the state. Even with a mission from the governor of that "unit's" respective state accepting the "orders" is still voluntary. I worked along side some of them during a field exercise and they wear old uniforms and everyone is an officer or e6 and above. I found it slightly funny but I appreciated their "almost" commitment.

I follow, many thanks, I'd found them of interest, as I'd said...I takemit, then so far as you know, they're pretty much all over the country? I realize you might not know much more about them, I'd merely been curious if they were at all near my wife and myself in NY, whatever else you might know, even if only fragmentary, would obv be much appreciated, if you don't know anything further, many thanks, in any event, for even that info, by all means, of course.

@SSG Jeff Brown That sounds like the 'Butter Nuts' of the Civil War. Down River from Gallipolis, OH, there were those so far back in the hills that they wore homespun dyed with Butternuts for color and they never heard of, cared nor served in the Civil War. (I was born in Columbus).
