This is because almost every modern Hollywood movie portrays soldiers as highly traumatized PTSD patients or worse. There are severe PTSD cases, and they are not to be minimalized, but the vast majority of soldiers and veterans do not have mental health issues. I believe soldiers are still very resilient. We need to encourage a balance between PTSD awareness and a ill portrayal of soldiers and their families. When s#!t hits the fan, I will always more readily trust a soldier that has served our country than your average civilian. Valuable veteran experiences and wisdom are often overlooked in our society. I am thankful for a platform like Rally Point where ideas and principles can be peacefully shared among heroes.

Oh, yeah, Yep. Definitely. And this problem with perceptions is mostly media-driven, I think.
