Sure your right for the dismissal of General Mcrystal but a simular thing happened to General Mike Flynn as well and he was appointed to National Security Advisor. The rest they offered to advise the president because they are patriots and they are professionals who just want to make sure the president is able to get sound advice now Seceded Mattis I'm huge fan of him as well as H.R McMaster but they can have their limitations that why it's always good to have unnoficial military advisors just like how Maxwell Taylor was Kennedy's before becoming the ambassador to Vietnam.

MCPO Roger Collins - general Mike Flynn was forced to resign from as DIA director for miss management was well as subversive against US policy it was his own staff that walk up to white house and laid out their grievances yet this man with all that as government knowledge even Vice President Pence did not want to Flynn on the translation team feeling he would be problematic for the administration yet President trump.made him National security Advisor.

The candidates who I laid out are flawed yes but point the are well respected generals every bit as competent as General Mattis or McMaster heck McMaster credits Patraues and Odierno as his mentors so why not use that talent they were not even looking to be officially apart of the administration just people to be brought in from time to time when the president needs unnoficial council.

Mike Flynn lasted about a week, he is a non issue. As I stated, Kelly and Mattis were superb choices. Not sure where your coming from on this.
