MY FIRST 2026 RECOMMENDATION: AmmoLand Shooting Sports News should be on your browser "favorites bar" for 2026. If you are not on the AMMOLAND email list you should sign up and you will get a reliable periodic news feed. For many years it has been my "go to" source for all news and alerts related to guns and gun rights. They also touch on other "Bill of Rights" issues and was as other legal issues as well.
MY OTHER 2026 RECOMMENDATIONS:
o Become "situationally aware" at the federal, state and local levels. This is going to be a year of many changes, controversies and the like. Speak up often and before we get saddled with "stupid." If the NYC election is any example, we are facing a political environment that is not only Godless but hostel to our American way of life.
o Setup the web links on your "favorites bar" the web pages for your federal, state and local representatives. Let them know often and early. Don't just criticize them but offer words of encouragement. Establish a relationship and track record with them and their staffs. Remember they were elected to serve you and not just those who voted for them.
o Become active politically in 2026. This is an election year and a very important on at that. I don't care what party you lean towards, get active and be willing to become knowledgeable on the overall issues, particularly those important to you.
o Develop your own talking points and do not parret the ones handed to you from your echo chamber. The act of exercising your own "critical thinking" base on your own "situational awareness" will sharpen you mind and shore up the emotional, ethical and moral principles guiding your life. Then doing the intellectual exercise of writing them down as "personal talking points" will hone and sharpen your discussions (respectful & courteous) and make you more impactful.
o Question everything and be sceptical. This is the first step of a critical thinker, and along with a healthy fear of the Lord God, just might prevent disasters in your life. My father called it the "anti-stupid" and there was no such thing as a stupid question. Once I finally matured, this is one habit which broaden my thinking and to see layers in life most miss.
o Connect with your God and do some spiritual "house cleaning" in the coming year. Read you "holey texts" (for me NKJV, NIV & KJV) and dig out the spiritual lessons and principles they contain....start applying them.
o Finally, pace yourself and find a balance in your life. At 74 (this February) I am surprise at how much doesn't surprise me. Yes I am situationally aware, but as an "armchair" historian and biblical scholar, much of what is happening in today's world has happened before.
