Amount of legroom you get on major US airlines like Delta and United

I know that both Delta and United have Economy upgrades for about $25 that give you either 3" or 4" extra legroom. It doesn't sound like much, but when you are in the seat, it is. I flew United to/from Korea and paid the extra $25. It was really nice and I didn't feel squeezed in.
