The BSA is done. They have been corrupted by modernity. A new organization will need to be created to replace them. A group not afraid to stand up for young boys and to help make them good young me. The BSA's mission was noble, necessary and right but to the modern left it was and is anathema.

Young Marines - I was in Cub Scouts, Webelos and Boy Scouts, but both of my sons were in the Young Marines instead due to the moral drift of BSA.

The points in the article notwithstanding, a lot of changes to the program (and requirements) have occurred over the years and I do not disagree with the suggestion about appeasement.

Awhile back a co-worker invited me to attend his son’s Eagle Scout award ceremony. While there I read the list of his achievements and merit badges that he had earned. Was shocked to see that Lifesaving Merit Badge wasn’t mentioned. I subsequently checked the web and turns out that Lifesaving (and the pre-req Swimming Merit Badge) had been dropped as a requirement for Eagle and was now optional (sic). For sure there should be options for handicapped Scouts; but, for the rest... Last time I checked the globe is ~2/3+ covered by H2O. Standard slippage?

Hoping Scouting gets back to basics while at the same time evolves in a way that made it so successful in the first place.
