LTC John Shaw That would be for the environment, however there is a bigger picture here.
When did these emissions start a notable decline? That I think is a more important question in regards to intelligence on the Coronavirus/SARS-CoV-2/COVID19 issue.

I agree, I am hopeful for real scientific analysis and discovery of how we can be cleaner sooner. No one wants to breathe dirty air or drink bad water, but are they willing to pay more to achieve these results. Government needs to be honest, it will cost more and how do we manage that process.
Coal and oil are dirty fuels, they only way to improve them is scrub the output, natural gas much cleaner but the fracking must be engineering correctly or you ruin local groundwater. I am an advocate of pragmatic steps toward cleaner fuels and green technology and decentralization of energy production so we are not building transmission lines all over the place.
What I don't think is helpful is the demonization of any country, companies or people just trying to make a living. We need to have honest conversations with each other and work toward common good. I don't like the use of CO2 as a political weapon, especially when one volcanic eruption can outproduce man made CO2 for an entire year.

LTC John Shaw - I greatly appreciate the answer in your response, but I think that you are missing the point on intelligence gathering and its connection to the current pandemic.
