T&P is trash. I quit following them a long time ago because either there was a political slant in whatever they were talking about or the people writing the article thought that because they had some sort of military experience they were some sort of omniscient authority on the matter.

SSG (Join to see) - I think I agree. I think the subject matter is solid, it's just the delivery that sucks. Seems like an inside smear job to me.

Not sure I agree with the premise that "America Keeps Losing Wars." I guess I'd have to read the whole book and not just ADM Stavridis' review. First, we'd have to define when each war/conflict started and stopped and when a new conflict started. If one were to look at the Philippine–American War, that was a separate conflict from the Spanish-American War, but was a direct consequence of the Spanish-American War. These two wars are very similar to what happened in Iraq. The U.S. military won the war against the Iraqi military. Just like political and military leaders after the Spanish-American War, the W's team didn't plan or consider the resulting insurrection. I guess the Iraq War part deux could be considered a loss. Desert Storm wasn't a loss. Korea might be a tie, but not a loss. Not sure if Grenada, Panama, Bosnia, etc count as "wars," (in the book) but not a lot of "losses" during those armed conflicts. The issue is that up to WWI, we were hitting .970 and after WWI we were only hitting .700 [for ease sake, I used wiki's list of conflicts]. I guess like click bait, the title is provocative enough to sell books.

1) They let the media get involved.
2) Because they let the media get involved they now have to play politics.
3) Because they have to play politics, all of the politicians let public opinion dictate their stance.
We never had a problem prior to Vietnam. We didn't have a problem in ODS either. When the government let the media start sticking their nose where it didn't belong is when we started to have problems. The only way you're going to win wars is through controlling the optempo and violence of action. Letting the media in and stirring up bleeding hearts creates an environment where you can't do that because you have to cater to the PC nonsense. Get the media out of war and we'll start kicking ass again.
